Large-volume Injection

Agilent 7890A GC with Large-Volume Injection Capabilities
Expand performance and productivity
Introducing large sample volumes into a GC lets you detect analytes at ppb or even ppt levels, while avoiding sample concentration. However, excess solvent can cause severe band broadening, peak deformation, and column or detector damage. Agilent 7890A and 6890 GCs configured for large-volume injections eliminate such problems. Most of the solvent is evaporated before the analytes are swept into the column. Sample evaporation can occur in a programmable temperature vaporizing inlet, for complex sample matrices, or in the retention gap of a cool on-column inlet with solvent vapor exit, for relatively clean matrices.

Features
  • Sample volumes up to 50 µL in a single injection
  • Sample volumes up to 500 µL with multiple injections using systems configured for large-volume injection
  • Pressure pulse capability with the split/splitless inlet. This provides an alternate method for easy injection of large volumes.
  • Baffled or packed PTV liners to accommodate large injections and facilitate solvent evaporation
  • An optional SVE kit that makes method development fast and simple. The kit contains everything you need to perform large-volume injection, including software that calculates the optimum solvent vent time. You merely enter the calculated vent time into your method to switch the valve at the appropriate moment, retaining all of the analyte for the best possible analysis.
