Analysis of Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Gasoline and Naphtha with the Agilent 6820 Series Gas Chromatograph and a Single Polar Capillary Column

Abstract: The aromatic hydrocarbons in finished gasoline, gasoline blending feedstock, and straight-run naphtha were quantitatively analyzed using an Agilent 6820 gas chromatograph equipped with a flame ionization detector and a single polar capillary column. An Internal standardization method, using n-tridecane as the internal standard, yielded quantitative concentration data for 57 aromatic target compounds, with a relative standard deviation of less than 1% for almost all compounds.
