In order to use the Regulatory Sequence search functionality in GeneSpring, the upstream sequences for the genes are required. The complete Human Genome contains over 3 billion base pairs and this massive amount of information is too much data for the average PC.

The regulatory sequence search usually only requires the upstream region for each gene. Using this smaller amount of data also lightens the load on your PC. The partial genomes provided here contain only the first 9999 bp of the upstream region of all the genes currently present in the ENSEMBL database. You can download these genomes and use them for your regulatory sequence search in GeneSpring.

Lastest Updates:
20-Jul-2004: Release of the Rat Genome
25-Mar-2004: New version of the Partial Human and Mouse Genomes - the old version contained a number of incorrectly mapped genes. The zip files below contain the new version 1.1.

Human Genome

The partial human genome consists of the first 9999 bp for each of the 21787 genes.

  1. Download HumanGenome9999.zip.
  2. Drag this file onto an open window of GeneSpring or use the "Open GeneSpring Zip" from the File menu.
  3. After restarting GeneSpring, the new genome is available in GeneSpring under the name "HumanGenome9999".

For more detailed installation and usage instructions see HumanGenome9999.pdf.

Mouse Genome

The partial mouse genome consists of the first 9999 bp for each of the 25307 genes.

  1. Download MouseGenome9999.zip.
  2. Drag this file onto an open window of GeneSpring or use the "Open GeneSpring Zip" from the File menu.
  3. After restarting GeneSpring, the new genome is available in GeneSpring under the name "MouseGenome9999".

For more detailed installation and usage instructions see MouseGenome9999.pdf.

Rat Genome

The partial rat genome consists of the first 9999 bp for each of the 22159 genes.

  1. Download RatGenome9999.zip.
  2. Drag this file onto an open window of GeneSpring or use the "Open GeneSpring Zip" from the File menu.
  3. After restarting GeneSpring, the new genome is available in GeneSpring under the name "RatGenome9999".

For more detailed installation and usage instructions see RatGenome9999.pdf.
