The GeneSpring GX – MetaCore connector scripts will allow you to integrate GeneSpring GX version 7.3, and later, with the MetaCore pathway analysis tool. The integration consists of two scripts for GeneSpring GX that will allow you to send gene lists with experimental data for analysis in MetaCore

  • Update 28-June-2006
The scripts have been updated on June 28th 2006 to implement the following changes: The normalized values in GeneSpring GX are now converted to normalized ratio values that MetaCore expects (centered around 0, rather than 1) The limit for the maximum number of genes has been raised from 500 to 1,000,000.
NOTE 1: The scripts will only work on GeneSpring GX version 7.3 and later. To update to version 7.3 go to the GeneSpring GX download page.

To install the GeneSpring GX scripts, do the following:
Download the installer ZIP file GeneGo_MetaCore_Scripts.zip (8.7 KBytes)
2. Save the ZIP file to your local hard drive.
3. Start the GeneSpring GX software.
4. Drag the ZIP file onto an open GeneSpring GX window, or use the Import GeneSpring GX Zip menu item from the File menu.
Two scripts will appear in the Scripts folder in the GeneSpring GX navigator
5. Each script will allow you to send data directly from GeneSpring GX to MetaCore.

For more information about the GeneGo MetaCore scripts, consult the help pages inside the scripts.
For more information about GeneGo MeaCore see the GeneGo website.

By default, the scripts point to the demo server for MetaCore at trials.genego.com.
If you have an internal MetaCore server, you can change the default server in the script to point to the internal server.

To change the default server to an internal MetaCore server, do the following
1.

Right click on the script you want to change, and select “Inspect” from the shortcut menu

The Script editing window will appear
2. Click on the Knob marked “GeneGO MetaCore Server Address”
On the right side of the script editing window, the know settings will appear.
The default value for the MetaCore address is currently trials.genego.com
3. Enter the server address for the internal MetaCore server in the box marked Default Value
4.

Save the script by pressing the Save button.
You can save it under a new name or simply overwrite the current script

5. Repeat this for the other script

For more information about the GeneGo MetaCore scripts, consult the help pages inside the scripts or the manual.
