Sampling accessories available with the 630 include:

    Transmission Accessory

The Cary 630 Transmission accessory provides the classic infrared sample interface enabling the measurement of solids, liquids or gases. Solids are analyzed in a pressed KBr pellet, a nujol mull, or evaporation onto salt plates; liquids are measured with a traditional sealed or demountable cell and gases can be measured with the Cary 630 FTIR gas cell. The purgeable transmission module is also useful for measuring thin polymer films. View flyer and learn more.

    DialPath Accessory

The Cary 630 DialPath accessory facilitates long pathlength FTIR transmission measurements of liquids, without the inconvenience of cumbersome IR cells – no spacers, windows, or syringes are needed.  Available in three pathlengths, the DialPath enables you to measure multiple peaks of varying intensity on the same sample — offering the versatility to handle both qualitative library matching and quantitative analysis on a wide range of concentrations and peak intensities. TumblIR Accessory

The Cary 630 TumblIR accessory facilitates FTIR transmission measurements of liquids, without the inconvenience of cumbersome IR transmission cells — no spacers, windows, or syringes are needed.  Available in a single pathlength, with the option to select between 30–2000 μm, which covers most of the regulatory transmission methods. If more than one pathlength is required, then the DialPath Accessory should be used. View flyer and learn more.

    Diamond ATR Accessory

The Cary 630 Diamond ATR accessory is a single bounce ATR specifically designed to optimize the energy throughput, ensuring you achieve the highest quality spectra. The ATR technique attenuates a significant amount of the instrument IR light thereby reducing the sensitivity compared to direct transmission measurements. The unique design of the Cary 630 FTIR and the Diamond ATR increases energy throughput around 30% compared to other routine FTIR systems, enabling faster data collection, lower noise and superior quality. Germanium ATR Accessory

The Cary 630 single bounce Germanium ATR, while similar in design to the Diamond ATR, offers different characteristics due to the use of a Ge crystal. Shallower depth of penetration is achieved with a Ge crystal, resulting in a shorter pathlength. This is important when measuring samples with a high amount of carbon such as tires, rubbers and o-rings as the characterization and identification of these highly absorbing samples is made simpler with shorter pathlengths. ZnSe ATR Accessory

The Cary 630 5 Bounce ZnSe ATR uses a larger ZnSe crystal to allow for more contact with the sample, thus providing a longer effective pathlength. This longer pathlength improves the levels of detection needed for many challenging applications, such as the analysis of Biodiesel as per ASTM D-7371 method. View flyer and learn more.

    Specular Reflectance Accessory

The Cary 630 10 or 45 degree Specular Reflectance Accessory (SRA) allows for near-normal specular reflectance measurements. Specular reflectance measurements provide information about the reflectivity of a coating on a substrate. The accessory measures light coming in at a 10 or 45 degree angle to the sample and is particularly suitable for measuring near-normal specular reflectance of coatings. View flyer and learn more.

    Diffuse Reflectance Accessory

The Cary 630 Diffuse Reflectance Accessory (DRA) provides quantitative and qualitative information on powdered or solid samples. This technique delivers more sensitive quantitative analysis than ATR, while still being easy to use. The DRA is optimized for use with the Cary 630 FTIR optical system, providing the highest sensitivity available for fast, accurate measurements. While ATR is often the easiest sampling technique, the sensitivity can be difficult to adjust. Diffuse reflectance allows you to vary the ratio of KBr to the sample to measure a much larger range of concentrations. View flyer and learn more.
