  • Can the Human Multiple Affinity Removal Column be Utilized for Mouse or Rat Serum?
The human protein removal column is designed for depleting human proteins by using polyclonal antibodies against human antigens. Although it has been shown to work well for monkey serum (and dog serum for five of six proteins), the cross-species reactivity with proteins from other species like mouse or rat is low and it is not recommended for use with other species. A mouse protein removal column (for removing albumin, IgG, and transferrin) is now available, and it also works for rat serum (although capacity is about 40% less for rat serum).
