Agilent's decreased emphasis on paper manuals and increased emphasis on online help was done for a number of reasons:
- Online help is always present; you cannot misplace or lose it.
- Online help can quickly be searched by topic or text string.
- Online help is easier to change, so it is easier to keep the contents up to date.
- Online help is less expensive to deliver, which helps us keep down the overall price of an instrument.
- Online help is friendlier to the environment, since it does not consume paper.
For users who prefer to read their information on paper, any portion of the online help can be printed out. From the Contents, each individual topic (page icon) or each section (book icon) can be printed by highlighting (clicking on) it and then clicking the
Print button. Be careful. If you select a book, every topic within that book will be printed. If you select one of the higher level books, that can add up to a lot of paper!
