  • What Should be Expected when Analyzing Plant RNA?
Accuracy and reproducibility of the quantification of plant RNAs are comparable with any other RNA sample type. But RNA samples extracted from plants can contain tissue specific rRNA fragment which can't be appropriately assigned by the 2100 expert software. This can have an effect on the rRNA ratio as well as on RIN which has been optimized for 18/28S rRNA identification in mammalian RNA samples. To adjust the rRNA fragment assignment, it is possible to manually assign the correct ribosomal RNA label in the data context (fragment table) of the software which will also correct the ribosomal RNA ratio but not RIN which is independent from manual setpoint adjustment.
