What are the Steps to Remove Scientific Notation Number Formats From a Report?
This is usually caused when the calculated "number" contains many
digits to display, The ChemStation default report style is Short,
this report is formatted to display numbers in the mixed 'format',
for the Amount and Area/Height fields. If the integer or decimal
digits contain many characters, the software will automatically switch
to a scientific notation formatting of the number, thereby allowing
the number to fit within the limited space allocated for this field on the report.
To correct this you should follow the following procedure for
creating a custom report style.
Select the 'View' menu then select the 'Report Layout' choice.
Select the 'File' menu, then 'Open Template'.
Select the demo template named "extstd.frp" (this template resembles
the Short report style) Once the demo template is loaded!
Scroll down to the Section Titled "General cal. Signals" (Title on left)
Using the left mouse button, select the area that has 4 columns
with grey lines), once selected click on 'Edit' menu, then
select 'Setup Element'. In the window that appears click on 'Edit Format'
button. Find the row that lists the field you want the number format set
to fixed: for example Amount, select the radio button for 'Fixed Point'.
Click OK twice, then from the Main screen select File Save Template As,
give it a new name, example: FixShort.frp
This only saved our changed template o a new name, we now need to add a
link to this file under the Style menu in Specify Report menu of
DataAnalysis View. Select 'File', 'Add to Report Styles, Type in a name
here that reflects the type of report you are generating, example: FixShort
This name will hopefully remind us later that this is the Fixed format
Short style report.
Select 'View', then 'DataAnalysis', then from 'Report' menu select
'Specify Report'. In this new panel in the middle section click on the down
arrow next to Style, then scroll up to select your new Report Style name.
Save your method.
