  • Can the ELSD be used for Quantifying Sample Concentrations?
The ELSD is a mass sensitive detector. Using the same measurement conditions will give the same signal intensity for the same concentration. The relationship of concentration and signal intensity is linear for about one or two orders of magnitude, typically some decades, which is a lower linear range compared to UV-Vis. The ELSD does not use a double-beam principle, i.e. the intensity of the scattered light is not measured relatively to the intensity of the light emitted by the LED. Therefore a decreasing LED light intensity will cause decreasing signal heights over time.
