There are three main changes to the 7890 Chemstation UI from the 6890:
· Different display for “Instrument Actuals”
· No Sampling Diagram available for version B.03.01, B.03.02 or B.04.01
· There is no Instrument Diagram available on B.03.01 – there is a rudimentary instrument diagram in B.03.02 and B.401
Instrument Actuals / ChemStation Status Screen
The 7890 Chemstation the GC status screen is different from the 6890. The differences are as follows:
· More “Instrument Actuals” items can be displayed in the 7890 screen than on the 6890 – see items listed below

Setting Up the Instrument Actuals View
Setup Actuals - 6890
The 6890 Instrument Actuals for the Status screen are selected from the menu pull down – Instrument/Setup Actuals. They are then dragged to and from the Available list and the Displayed List.

Setup Actuals – 7890 Chemstation Version B.03.01 and B.03.02
The 7890 Instrument Actuals view is selected and then the setup is performed by right clicking in the gray space of the view.

After selecting “Setup Actuals” the following screen appears where the parameter selection is made.

Setup Actuals – 7890 Chemstation Version B.04.01
In version B.04.01 a right click in the GC Status screen will result in “Setup Actuals” as before – there is also an Icon in the GC Status screen that opens the Actuals selection screen.
The right click also now includes “Copy Status to Clipboard” – this is useful for emailing Not-Ready states and instrument setpoints to Agilent Support.
As of version B.04.01 errors and shutdowns are not included in the Status Report.

The GC Status Screen for both the 6850/6890 and 7890 is where the “Instrument Actuals” are displayed – and it is the only place in the Chemstation Method and Run control View where you will see GC “Not Ready” Status.
This brings up another item of confusion – if you Select “Instrument Actuals” from the “View” menu – the screen that appears is labeled “Agilent GC Status”.
Instrument Diagram
6890 Instrument Diagram
The 6890 Instrument Diagram shows column configuration and acts as a set of “hotlinks” into the 6890 Edit Parameters Screen.
In the 6890 Chemstation it is enabled under the “View” menu.

7890 Instrument Diagram
There is a very basic instrument diagram in version B.03.02 and B.04.01. It is enabled under the “Instrument” pull down menu rather than the “View” menu as with 6890. This is not really an instrument diagram – it does not show column configuration as with the 6890.
It is actually a graphical set of “hotlinks” into the 7890 Edit Parameters Screens

Clicking on one of the instrument Icons will open up the corresponding screen in the 7890 “Edit GC Parameters Screen. The example below opens the “Inlets” screen.
