1.       Overview

The purpose of this document is to list known problems in the software and any known workarounds or recovery paths. 

2.       Known Problem Summary

The following is a summary of the known problems in the software.  This is not an exhaustive list, but is a list of the problems a customer is most likely to encounter.   This list cross-references items in our Defect tracking database.

3.       Known Problems Detailed Description

The following is the detailed descriptions of the known problems in the QQQ software.  This section includes more extensive information from our defect tracking database.  This section also includes any known workarounds or recovery paths.

3.1        Installation

SCR #06752

Title

Setting ALS SL thermostat to off does not work.

Description

Setting ALS SL thermostat to off prompts MassHunter to become not ready.  The not ready message is “cooling samples”. 

Workaround

Specify a temperature for the ALS-SL.   .

 

SCR #9870

Title

Uninstalling QQQ SW wipes out Instrument Actuals settings.

Description

If a user uninstalls and reinstalls the QQQ software, the settings for the Instrument Actuals panel

Workaround

Right-click on the Actuals panel in the newly installed QQQ software to get to the Setup dialog.  This will enable the user to put in new Actual settings.

 

SCR #12531

Title

G1367B hALS Tray Configuration is initially unavailable.

Description

On a G1367B hALS with A.06.10 firmware, MassHunter Workstation Acquisition cannot select the Tray Configuration. 

Workaround

Do not connect APG remote cable on G1367B hALS: move to pump or detector LC modules. 

 

SCR #12698

Title

Choose MassHunter Workstation Acquisition default installation location for program files.

Description

Starting with MassHunter Workstation B.01.04, any directory path for the acquisition software can be specified as the destination location for the program.  Installation creates any directories that did not pre-exist and proceeds to completion.  However, not all functionality is available.

Workaround

Choose MassHunter Workstation Acquisition default installation location for program files.

 

SCR #13230

Title

Ion source field is blank at first startup for 6460 using ESI with Agilent Jet Stream Technology.

Description

When the G6460A Triple Quad LC/MS first starts up using ESI with Agilent Jet Stream Technology, the ion source field is blank.  Due to the new technology, ESI has to be chosen first as the ionization technique. 

Workaround

Choose ESI for the ion source field, and ESI with Agilent Jet Stream Technology will be available. 

 

SCR #13496

Title

Multimode Ion Source does not work with B.02.01

Description

The "IonSource" field in the method has been modified in Acquisition to be "MultiMode" from "MMI". This makes the Optimizer incompatible with Multimode methods on B.02.01.

 

SCR #13549

Title

MassHunter Workstation Acquisition cannot restart LC detector module if failure occurs.

Description

If a LC detector (like VWD or DAD) loses power or get its LAN disconnected during a worklist acquisition, the module goes gray (offline), and the worklist stops.  MassHunter Workstation Acquisition cannot turn on the LC detector again to a ready status. 

Workaround

Restart MassHunter Workstation Acquisition is required if LC device power failure occurs or LAN gets disconnected (on the CAN bus).

 

SCR #13551

Title

MassHunter Workstation Acquisition does not start if configured detector becomes disconnected.

Description

If a configured LC detector (like VWD or DAD) get its LAN disconnected during startup, MassHunter Workstation Acquisition does not start.

Workaround

Restart MassHunter Workstation Acquisition is required once LAN gets re-connected (CAN bus).

 

SCR #13688

Title

Unable to Change Parameters in Manual Tune In New Installations.

Description

With B.01.04 and B.02.01, a new software installation does not allow changes in manual tune without starting an autotune first.  If there is a no ion problem with the instrument, the first step in troubleshooting includes setting width gain to 100 and width offset to 4 ("opening" the quads).  These do not work for new installations with no corresponding changes noted in the real time plot.

Workaround

Start an initial autotune first.  Whether it passes or fails, changing parameters in Manual Tune now work.

3.2        Tuning

SCR #12677

Title

Collision Cell Gas will not be turned on before Autotune and Checktune start.

Description

Autotune and Checktune should properly be run with the Collision Cell Gas turned on.  If the user turns the Collision Cell Gas off, and then initiates an Autotune or a Checktune, these programs will not turn it back on.  If the user puts the instrument into Standby mode, and then turns it On, the Collision Cell Gas will be turned On.

Workaround

Do not turn the Collision Cell Gas off. There is no need to turn the Collision Cell Gas off.  It uses very little gas (~2 ml/min at atmospheric pressure).  When in Standby mode, the system automatically sets the Collision Cell Gas to one-half its factory set value.  When the instrument is turned to On mode, the Collision Cell Gas is turned on.

 

SCR #13169

Title

Axis and width offset parameters settings sometimes stay dynamically ramped when Manual Tuning.

Description

In Manual Tune, disabling the dynamic ramp parameters for axis and width offsets does not stay.  That is, axis and width offsets stay dynamically ramped even if tune file is saved as another file after disabling. 

 

SCR #13184

Title

Manual ramping may use different "from" and "to" values than specified when Manual Tuning.

Description

In Manual Tune and as an example, select fragmentor to manually ramp from the parameter menu.  Choose from 0 to 150 with stepsize 50.  The fragmentor ramp starts at 30 and ends at 180.

 

SCR #13193

Title

Default ramp value for prefilter DC2 is out of range when Manual Tuning.

Description

The default "from" ramp value for prefilter DC2 is -60 V, and this value is out of range.  It should be -50 V. 

Workaround

Change prefilter DC2 “from” ramp value to -50 V. 

 

SCR #13262

Title

HPLC-Chip autotune does not complete successfully.

Description

Autotune with HPLC-Chip positive does note complete successfully. 

Workaround

Tune with ESI, ESI with Agilent Jet Stream Technology, or MMI prior to installing and using HPLC-Chip.

 

SCR #13519

Title

Selecting scan stepsize greater than 3 causes Lens2 DC driver fault in Manual Tune.

Description

In Manual Tune, selecting a stepsize larger than 3 produces no observed chromatogram peaks in the RTP for scan. 

Workaround

Do not select stepsize greater than 3 for scan. 

 

SCR #13831

Title

View Tune Parameters in MS QQQ tab in Acquisition context only displays positive Tune Parameters.

Description

In the Acquisition context and on the MS QQQ tab, selecting View Tune Parameters always show positive tune parameters only.  This is regardless if the ionization mode is positive or negative.

Workaround

Check the Tune Parameters in the Tune context. 

3.3        Acquisition

SCR #8751

Title

A worklist does not abort when LC slave module loses power.

Description

If an LC slave module (i.e. not containing the network card) is powered off during a worklist run, it only partially aborts. Abort requests appear in the system log, but are not executed. If the LC module is powered on again its device icon shows it as available, but you can neither stop nor abort the worklist.

Workaround

Restart MassHunter Workstation.

 

SCR #9450

Title

MassHunter Acquisition blacks out when adjusting Real-time Plot pane. 

Description

On some computer systems, when you change the y-axis to its minimum scale using the scroll arrows, the screen becomes dark.

Workaround

Restart the PC.

 

SCR #12696

Title

Only 4 Scan Segments allowed when in MS2Scan Mode

Description

With the introduction of MassHunter Workstation B.01.04, 200 MRM Scan Segments are allowed.  For scan or specifically using MS2Scan, there is a memory limitation constraining this to only 4 Scan Segments.  This affects MS2Scan, Product Ion Scan, and Neutral Loss/Gain acquisition modes. 

Workaround

Please restrict acquisition modes using MS2Scan to no more than 4 segments.

 

SCR #12517

Title

Acquisition Method sporadically fails to Import into MassHunter Workstation Quantitative Analysis.

Description

A batch created in MassHunter Workstation Quantitative Analysis with creating new Quant method from acquired MRM may produce the following error: "Failed to import method from acquisition Multiple method directories in <Userhome>\data..."  There may be two acquisition method created. 

 

SCR #13225

Title

Error may occur when starting offline Acq Method and Worklist Editor when acquisition is online.

Description

When MassHunter Workstation Acquisition is online, starting the Acq Method and Worklist may fail with "Error occurred when starting application or switching context. The application cannot continue and will abort”.

 

SCR #13498

Title

Solvent Manager fails if new solvent names have blank spaces in them.

Description

When using Solvent Manager, it has been found that naming conventions with blank spaces revert back to the default solvent setting. 

Workaround

Do not use blank spaces for Solvent Manager naming convention. 

 

SCR #13687

Title

Cannot Save Instrument Curves Settings at Next Startup.

Description

When acquiring, intrument curves can be selected that can include pump pressure, %A to %B, column temperature, etc.  However, when MassHunter acqusition is started again, all these instrument curves selected are lost.  Request a way to save the selected ones for the next analysis.

 

SCR #13689

Title

Ion Source and parameters are blank when offline Method for ESI with Agilent Jet Stream Technology is loaded for online acquisition. 

Description

When a method is created in the offline Acq Method and Worklist editor for 6460 using ESI with Agilent Jet Stream Technology, ion source parameters are blank when used online for acquisition. 

Workaround

Edit the ion source parameters for the 6460 using ESI with Agilent Jet Stream Technology. 

 

SCR #13694

Title

Ghost Peak Sometimes Appear at 3000 m/z.

Description

There is a ghost peak in acquisition B.02.00 or B.02.01 pass the 3000 m/z.  It is large and can tower over actual data in RTP.  However, it seems to be only onscreen (and on RTP).  One system starts to display this peak when in MS2 scan in acquisition from 50 to 1850.  At 50 to 1800, all is normal.  At 50 to 1850, the peak starts to take form.  At 50 t0 1900, it becomes greater. At 50 to 3000, there is great abundance.

 

SCR #13933

Title

Only Contact 1 is visible in External Contacts tab for G1367D ALS SL+.

Description

When installing the contacts board on the G1367D ALS SL+ and launching MassHunter Workstation Acquisition, only Contact1 (out of 4) is visible. 

Workaround

Change the existing method and save, and the External Contacts are available. 

 

SCR #13979

Title

Needlewash location "flushseat" changes to "as method" when method is saved for G1367D ALS SL+. 

Description

On G1367D ALS SL+ sampler, select "use injector program" in the Samples tab.  Select the Injector Program tab, "needlewash" as the line function, "flushseat" from the location menu, and click apply and save the method.  "Flushseat" changes to "as method"

 

SCR #13981

Title

MassHunter Workstation does not handle blank spaces.

Description

In relation to SCR#13498 with Solvent Manager, importing a worklist with blank spaces in the entry as created in Excel will fail to import. 

Workaround

Do not use blank spaces for most MassHunter Workstation parameters. 

 

SCR #16146

Title

Injector Program AND Overlapped Injection in Same Method Does Not Work.

Description

Injector program works fine alone.  Start overlap at works fine alone.  If both turned on, the overlapped injection never happens, and other strange things happen. 

For example: First injection, both pumps (running ACR) never change to Run blue from the Waiting magenta color, MS runs stops at 0.7min rather than 2 min as specified in Pump1 tab.  Next injections, all modules go Blue at start and run goes to 2min Stop, but no injection is ever made.

3.4        Reports

SCR #13513

Title

Wait for Autotune report to show before pressing OK when Autotune completes.

Description

Before the Autotune report is generated, pressing OK to the Autotune completed successfully window sometimes provides no report. 

Workaround

Wait for Autotune report to show before pressing OK when Autotune completes.

 

SCR #13832

Title

MassHunter Workstation Acquisition Method report generation sometimes hang when printing.

Description

On new installations, MassHunter Workstation Acquisition Method report generation sometimes hang when printing the first time.  This seems to be a more general issue with an Excel add-in. 

Workaround

The Excel add-in loader for acquisition is shared with MassHunter Workstation Quantitative Analysis.  Proceed to install any Quantitative Analysis software patch.
