3. Known Problems Detailed Description
The following is the detailed descriptions of the known problems in the Easy-Access software. This section includes more extensive information from our defect tracking database. This section also includes any known workarounds or recovery paths
SCR #1778 |
Title |
Non-existent accounts cause email failures. |
Description |
The default users installed with the Easy-Access software also have a generic default email users to send email to. This results in email errors if the user logs in as one of those users and doesn't change the email user from the Groups and Users tab in the Admin panels.
For example, mschemist will send email to user "mschemist", but that account will likely not exist, so the email will fail to be sent. In addition, it appears this error hangs around on Win2K as further emails sent to users which do have accounts sometimes gets blocked and the error message will continue to appear. |
SCR #1801 |
Title |
Exit from Easy-Access during run causes error in ChemStation. |
Description |
When exiting Easy-Access during a run, the run continues in ChemStation. At the end of the run the report printed out is an error message saying "Error 2 occurred in Command GENERATE ERROR in macro LCMSQualBsb at line 1784 in file C:\HPCHEM\MS\HPLCMS00.MCX: Cannot find an MS Signal in ChromReg". |
SCR #4397 |
Title |
Removing LAN cable from MSD causes MSD to run without stopping. |
Description |
Removing the LAN cable from the MSD during data acquisition causes the method running to never stop. ChemStation shows the MSD is still running even 10 minutes after the method should have ended. Easy-Access also shows that the run is still running. |
SCR #4406 |
Title |
Different fractions are collected for the same well if a module goes offline. |
Description |
After running a series of samples, a fraction collection is started and an error with pump module can occur on the LC stack. The LC modules turn red and all error messages need to be addressed, so the pump and the rest of the LC stack need to be power cycled. The next sample will continue to run, and the first fraction collected in the same well as the one when the pump was shut off. |
SCR #4410 |
Title |
Easy-Access cannot be launched for “user” account login. |
Description |
Starting Easy-Access as a regular “user” account at login causes critical error and displays Easy-Access cannot be launched. |
Workaround |
Give “Full control rights” to the “user” account for the folder where Easy-Access is installed. I.e.: Full rights to “user” account for the folder C:\Programs\Easy-Access if Easy-Access is installed in this path |
SCR #4486 |
Title |
When half trays are used, a non existent middle tray shows in the UI. |
Description |
When two half trays are put in the Afraco in the first and third position the Easy-Access UI will show a middle tray. The tray type string shows the correct configuration, so the macro is reading the correct values from ChemStation but the UI is not showing the correct plates. |
SCR #4864 |
Title |
The logic of calculating molecular weight of given formula is imprecise. |
Description |
During sample submission, when type in a formula for a target such as C100H200N4O2. Click "Load Samples" button, it shows the calculated mass to be 215.15. The logic of calculating molecular weight based on the given formula is imprecise when there are 3 digits significant figures of an element and using parenthesis for ion groups. |
SCR #5329 |
Title |
Unregistered users cannot run samples. |
Description |
The run cannot complete because a bad path name prevents the data directory from being created. When an unregistered (i.e.: no Easy-Access account) user runs a sample, the error message in Chemstation "Data directory not created, Bad path name" appears. Several more attempts provide the same error and then the method aborts. |
Workaround |
Register the user. |
SCR #5342 |
Title |
Administrators can remove the currently running sample. |
Description |
There is a window of time where the currently running sample has started running, and the administrator can still remove it. The sample can be removed during the equilibration by time step. |
SCR 5346 |
Title |
Error 'Could not find valid next position' with un-configured wellplates. |
Description |
hen a user inserts a new wellplate tray in the fraction collector, they must configure the wellplates in the ChemStation before running Easy-Access. If the wellplates are not configured, Easy-Access will not run samples and the fraction collector status will be 'Could not find valid next position'. |
SCR #6319 |
Title |
Request to be able to eliminate '-' in data file name when using custom +counter. |
Description |
Enhancement request to be able to eliminate the '-' in the data file name when the data file name is configured for custom name field + counter. With rev. A.04.00 there is always a '-' in the data file name. A customer does not want the '-' and has requested to be able to configure the data file naming with custom + counter without the '-'. |
SCR #6350 |
Title |
Two Easy-Access applications can run at the simultaneously. |
Description |
During an Easy-Access run, the UV wavelength does not change to the value requested by the user in the Wavelength field of the Easy-Access screen. For example, three runs with three different methods that each had a wavelength of 230 nm. In the Easy-Access login screen, set the runs to use an actual wavelength of 240, 250, and 260 respectively. Watching the data being acquired in the ChemStation online signals and it is only acquiring 230. Looking at all three data files in Data Analysis indicates only 230 had been acquired. |
Workaround |
Customer can create a lot more methods each with the desired wavelengths. |
SCR #6385 |
Title |
UV wavelength bandwidth set to 0 turns off DAD. |
Description |
Customer found that if you set the UV wavelength's bandwidth to 0, it turns off the DAD. Zero is not a reasonable value for the DAD bandwidth. It might be preferred that the user is restricted to not enter a value less than 4. |
SCR #6387 |
Title |
Missing Vial in Easy-Access completely stops all runs. |
Description |
Customer sets up three runs in Easy-Access, and takes out the middle vial. When Easy-Access tries to run that vial, it issues a missing vial report. However, it will then sit indefinitely at that run while pumping solvent with the regular method and never move on to the third and final vial. The "Stop on missing vial" feature is not enabled. |
SCR # 6516 |
Title |
Databases removed with uninstall from nonstandard directory. |
Description |
Install Easy-Access in a non-default directory. Run it and then uninstall it. The Databases are removed. |
SCR # 6635 |
Title |
Active Splitter does not start/stop when Easy-Access installed. |
Description |
Even without Easy-Access running, the active splitter does not start/stop with the run. User can start and stop from the ChemStation menu or the active splitter panel but it does not synchronize. Removing the Easy-Access add-on from the ini file works fine as a workaround. |
SCR # 6680 |
Title |
CTC incorrect/inconsistent in reporting missing vial in overlapped injection. |
Description |
After clearing the tray and setting up new samples, the 1st vial is present at P7-A-01. The 2nd vial in the set is processed normally. Another sample set was added, and the first position was left empty. In this case the CTC acted as though a vial was present when it should have reported a missing vial. |
SCR #6692 |
Title |
The new HR vial plates are not supported in Easy-Access. |
Description |
By default, Easy-Access will configure the ChemStation for the standard 15 vial plate when the administrator selects 6ml vial in the Autosampler configuration tab. |
Workaround |
To use the HR 6ml vials, edit the chemstation.ini or eztof.ini and change the 6mlVialPlateType entry to the appropriate string value as shown in the plate configuration combo box.
The new vial plate types supported with B.03.01SR1 are:
15HR5mlVialplate
15HR6mlVialplate
6VialPlate |
SCR # 6695 |
Title |
Some custom plates are not shown on the status panel. |
Description |
Only Custom plates with the number of rows and columns matching one of the standard plates can be displayed graphically in Easy-Access. For example, a 24-position 7x7 plate cannot be displayed by Easy-Access. This is a cosmetic issue only. Easy-Access can run samples in these plates, but the user cannot view the status of individual sample locations through Easy-Access. |
SCR #6709 |
Title |
ChemStation Method save dialog is displayed during data analysis. |
Description |
This occurs whether or not Easy-Access is running.
On the ChemStation, load Blank.m from the test methods. Run the method.
At the end of data acquisition, ChemStation prompts for method save. |
Workaround |
It is necessary to edit the method runtime checklist and turn-on data analysis and save method with data and save the method with these options activated. After this, you can deactivate the options and save the method and everything will work. |
SCR #6710 |
Title |
Cannot use 6ml vials in Easy-Access. |
Description |
Cannot Use G2260A prep ALS with 6 ml vials. The root cause of the problem is the placement of the 6ml 15-vial tray. If they have placed it in the left-most position, it must be in the right-most position. |
SCR #6712 |
Title |
e-mail notification to sysadmin fails when e-mail configured to use login name. |
Description |
When Easy-Access is configured to use the login name, this affects the way the e-mail is sent to the sysadmin. The e-mail name should always be used to send sysadmin notifications. |
Workaround |
Change e-mail configuration to not use login name. |
SCR #6727 |
Title |
Queue not displayed properly when delayed samples are running the next day |
Description |
The queue display is not sorted properly when normal samples are submitted after delayed samples have released (it is after the time set for the delayed samples to start running.)
When you submit new samples they are displayed at the top of the queue, even though the delayed samples are the ones that are running.
This is likely to happen in a lab where the instrument fails to run the overlapped injections so the next day they are still in the queue. |
SCR # 6849 |
Title |
SMTP e-mail service doesn't properly handle badly-fomed XML files |
Description |
When there is an ampersand in the subject or body of the message, this is invalid XML.
The SMTP server reports an error but doesn't move the badly formed message to the failed message folder |
SCR #6853 |
Title |
If user does not select Proj ID and hits OK to login.....must cancel |
Description |
If the user does not select a Project ID, but fills in all other fields in login screen and cicks OK, the OK remains greyed out even if you select a project ID. The only option is to Cancel and start over |
SCR #6879 |
Title |
Save configuration generates errors when no CTC is configured. |
Description |
Save configuration generates errors when no CTC is configured. |
SCR #6888 |
Title |
Acq and DA method browse buttons on method setup form does not work |
Description |
Acq and DA method browse buttons on method setup form does not pop up the method open folder dialog.
This restricts the user to use the Acq/DA method present at a location other than "<CustomerHome>\methods". |
