Food Safety Applications Using the Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer

Abstract: The Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer provides convenient, economical Lab-on-a-Chip technology for protein and nucleic acid analysis. The Bioanalyzer integrates sample handling, mixing, dilution, electrophoresis, staining and detection on a single easy-to-use miniaturized system. The flexible platform has been demonstrated for a wide range of food safety applications. This presentation will describe just a few of the many hundreds of novel applications developed by Agilent Technologies and by our customers. Nucleic acid-based applications to be described include fish and meat species identification, multiplexed detection of food-borne pathogens and genetically-modified organisms, and authentication testing for several high-value products including basmati rice, wheat, and honey. Protein-based applications to be described include allergen testing and milk protein analysis.
