Fast Analysis of Mud Logging Gas by Micro GC_

Abstract: Two methods are developed for the fast analysis of mud logging gas using the Agilent 3000 Micro GC, One is a two-channel method and the other is a three-channel method; the cycle time for each method is around 30 seconds. Helium is used as the carrier gas and carrier flow is precisely maintained with electronic pneumatics control (EPC).  The detector on each channel is a micro TCD, which is sensitive enough for the detection of mud logging gas with concentrations below five parts per million.
