Agilent provides researchers with a versatile portfolio of modular single- and dual-source systems which can be optimized for small molecule and protein X-ray crystallography. Our user-friendly systems allow non-experts and specialist crystallographers to obtain extremely high quality results with scope for intelligent automation or full manual control of experiments.
Our diffractometers use sealed tube molybdenum and copper wavelength X-ray sources which contain no moving parts. They are highly reliable and avoid the expense and inconvenience of regular servicing and maintenance.
With a low cost of ownership and excellent uptime, our systems are ideal for both ‘home laboratories’ and centralized service laboratories.

PX Scanner – in situ X-ray crystal screening
Agilent is intent on making protein crystallography a simple and straightforward laboratory process. Our PX Scanner removes much of the trial, error and guesswork – not to mention the frustration – involved in selecting the best sample protein crystals for X-ray diffraction experiments or cryopreservation.
The PX Scanner allows you to visualize, identify and evaluate protein crystals while they remain undisturbed in the growth media within virtually all SBS format crystallization plates.
The PX Scanner has been proven to save expensive and time consuming crystallization projects. All too often crystals are removed from their growth environment and found to produce no discernible diffraction because many protein crystals are extremely sensitive and are destroyed or altered once they are removed from their growth medium. But by using the PX Scanner you leave your samples undisturbed and unharmed within their crystallization wells; this in situ X-ray screening can reveal some diffracting crystals where you may have thought none existed.
Our PX Scanner has just been enhanced with:
- an improved Nova micro-focus X-ray source for twice the beam intensity;
- a new 135 mm CCD detector for double sensitivity;
- an interactive touchscreen to control plate loading, visual display and other functions.
