Greenhouse Gases GC Analyzer
Easy-to-use GC analyzers for the analysis of greenhouse gases
Carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O) are considered the main greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere. Continuous measurement of these gases provides meaningful information to track greenhouse gases emission trends and helps in the fight against climate change. Two Greenhouse Gases Analyzers based on the Agilent 7890A GC have been developed to meet the different requirements for simultaneous analysis of CH4, CO2, and N2O in air samples. Both systems can easily be expanded to determine sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) and demonstrate high sensitivity with excellent repeatability.

Features
  • 7890A GC with multi-valve, micro-ECD, methanizer-FID combination system provides simultaneous analysis of greenhouse gases with one injection.
  • The micro-ECD’s high sensitivity ensures the detection of N2O at ppb level.
  • An easy-to-use union based on Capillary Flow Technology is used to connect valves and the micro-ECD improving the chromatographic performance, including peak shape.
  • The systems are easily expanded to include the determination of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6).
  • Analyzer SP1 7890-0468 has a single channel with a simpler valve configuration and it is possible, with minor modifications, to allow the use of autosampling using the Agilent G1888 headspace sampler.
  • Analyzer SP1 7890-0467 has two separate channels and each channel can be optimized to achieve faster analysis.  The valve-switching time is less critical and the method is easier to set up due to increased flexibility with separate channels. The use of the third TCD detector allows a wide concentration range of CO2 (0.2 ppm to 20%) to be measured.
