Application Kits’ databases speed pesticides and forensic toxicology method development for LC/MS and LC/MS/MS

Article 2 of 2 in a series: “Increased laboratory productivity with GC/MSD and LC/MS Application Kits”

By Denise Ibens
Agilent CASU Solutions Manager

In our last issue I talked about how Agilent Application Kits streamlined method development when working on a GC/MSD. Now, I’d like to show you that LC/MS and LC/MS/MS users can also benefit.

The need to identify and confirm a large number of analytes at low concentrations makes both forensic toxicology and pesticides analysis challenging. But you can develop methods quickly and easily with Agilent LC/MS and LC/MS/MS Application Kits. These kits are ready to use and include either an Accurate Mass or a Dynamic MRM Compound database.

Use the Accurate Mass database with TOF LC/MS or Q-TOF LC/MS systems and the Dynamic MRM database with Triple Quadrupole LC/MS. Both databases contain compounds commonly monitored around the world and both provide fast customized method development for the compounds you need to monitor. These Application Kits also provide example analysis methods that demonstrate the use of the latest LC/MS and LC/MS/MS technologies for screening large numbers of compounds.

Agilent 6500 Series Accurate-Mass Quadrupole Time-of-Flight (Q-TOF) LC/MS and Agilent 6400 Series Triple Quadrupole LC/MS

Application Kits simplify set-up and method development

Each Application kit includes the database you need to screen large numbers of compounds.

Pesticides Application Kits come with either a 1600-Pesticides Accurate Mass Personal Compound Database for use with the Agilent TOF LC/MS or Q-TOF LC/MS or a 600-Pesticides Dynamic MRM Database for use with the Agilent Triple Quadrupole LC/MS.

Forensic Toxicology Application Kits come with either a 6000-compounds Accurate Mass Personal Compound Database for use with the Agilent TOF LC/MS or Q-TOF LC/MS or a 100-compounds Dynamic MRM Database for use with the Agilent Triple Quadrupole LC/MS.

In addition, each Application Kit contains:

  • Pesticides or Forensic Toxicology test mix
  • Methods demonstrating the use of the databases for pesticides or forensic toxicology screening
  • Analytical column
  • Application Note
  • Quick-start guide
  • Free pre-packaged QuEChERS kit (for pesticides)

Fast and easy startup of new LC/MS and LC/MS/MS technology

With several examples of screening methods, a test mix and a quick-start guide, your Application Kit is designed to help you quickly benefit from the latest LC/MS or LC/MS/MS technology. Before you know it, you’ll see the increased productivity that comes from fully utilizing your instrument’s enhanced capabilities.

In addition to the new databases, the Application Kit’s methods make use of the following technologies.

RRLC Get up to 60% more resolution at speeds up to 20 times faster than conventional LC. The 1290 Infinity LC System provides the highest speed and resolution for the ultimate in LC performance.

Agilent Jet Stream Technology Agilent Jet Stream thermal gradient focusing technology uses super-heated nitrogen (N2) to improve ion generation and desolvation for greater signal and reduced noise. It improves sensitivity five times or more for many small-molecule compounds undergoing electrospray ionization. And it’s now available exclusively on Agilent’s new 6460 Triple Quadrupole LC/MS and 6530 Accurate-Mass Q-TOF LC/MS.

Dynamic Multiple Reaction Monitoring (MRM) – Innovative MRM simplifies method development and ensures consistent ion statistics with constant cycle times, resulting in greater reproducibility than other methods for peak area measurements.

Agilent MassHunter Workstation software Benefit from intuitive, powerful instrument control, data acquisition, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and reporting for Agilent time-of-flight (TOF), Quadrupole time-of-flight (Q-TOF), and Triple Quadrupole systems. Save time in development and enjoy high throughput screening with automated tuning for both Triple Quadrupole and Q-TOF instruments.

SampliQ QuEChERS Prepare your samples for multi-class, multi-residue pesticide analysis in a few simple steps (Pesticides Application Kit only).
