Description:	This course is designed for those who want to enhance their skills in the software operation of the Agilent 1100 Series LC/MSD TRAP. The student will also learn techniques for successful operation. This course utilizes a lecture format with laboratories using a laptop computer.
Outline:	Agilent 1100 LC/MSD ION TRAP System Overview Understanding API & Ion Trap Mass Spectrometry Basics of Mass Spectral Information obtained by the LC/MSD TRAP LC/MSD TRAP Sample Introduction and HPLC Configurations Optimizing ESI and APCI for on-line LC/MS Analysis LC/MSD ChemStation and Windows Overview Starting Up and Shutting Down Tuning and Calibrating Flow Injection Analysis (FIA) Data Acquisition Qualitative Data Analysis Quantitation Using the LC/MSD TRAP Integration Quantification Reporting Sequence and Batch Review The Diagnosis View and Routine Maintenance
Prerequisites:	A basic liquid chromatography course such as Techniques of Modern HPLC (H1186A) is required. A basic mass spectrometry course is desirable as well as one month on the instrument.
Equipment:	Agilent provided laptop computer loaded with the Agilent 1100 LC/MSD ION TRAP ChemStation software.
Student Profile:	This course is suitable for anyone who wishes to expand his or her knowledge of the Agilent 1100 LC/MSD ION TRAP. A fundamental knowledge of chemistry is important to understand the solution chemistry.
