Description:

This course is designed for those who want to enhance their skill in the use of a Mass Selective Detector with Mass Spec EnviroQuant software.

Outline:

Day One: GC-MSD Hardware; Environmental Tuning for BFB and DFTPP
Day Two: Data Acquisition - SCAN and SIM; GC-MSD Maintenance
Day Three: Setting up Integration and the Target Compound Database; Multi-level Calibration; Calibrated Reports and Editing Quantitation Results; Library Searching
Day Four: Reporting Tentatively Identified Compounds; Continuing Calibration; Custom Reports and QA/QC Databases; Automation Tools
Day Five: Environmental Forms; Sequencing

Prerequisites:

Techniques of Gas Chromatography (H4002A) or a fundamental knowledge of gas chromatography. Techniques of GC-MS (H4040A) or a fundamental knowledge of mass spectrometry. A fundamental knowledge of Windows and EPA methodology is assumed and will not be covered in this course.

Equipment:

Agilent 6890-5973/5975 GC-MSD using MS ChemStation software.

Student Profile:

A novice user of the Agilent ChemStation who has a fundamental knowledge of gas chromatography and mass spectrometry and EPA environmental methods.
