A Typical Gas Chromatograph

A Gas Chromatography System consists of:

  1. Carrier Gas

  2. Sample Introduction

  3. Column

  4. Detector

  5. Computer

The sample introduction, column, and detector are the key components of the GC instrument. The carrier gas and computer are external to the GC. These components work as a system to identify unknown materials.
