Pittcon 2002: Helping You Accelerate the Pace of Progress

Agilent booth

As the annual Pittsburgh Conference draws near, Agilent is gearing up to present the latest developments in our solutions for bioscience, chemical analysis, pharmaceutical applications, and more. The theme for our exhibit (Booth #4833) is "Accelerating the Pace of Progress" and we'll be featuring a wide range of analytical products and solutions, including gas and liquid chromatographs, mass spectrometers, chromatography data systems, lab-on-a-chip products, UV-Vis, ICP/MS, capillary electrophoresis, and a complete line of columns and supplies.

Back by popular demand, we're offering free GC, HPLC and ICP/MS seminars during Pittcon on the conference floor. Seating is limited so please stop by the booth to review the seminar descriptions and to register. Throughout the week, we will also present a variety of posters and papers, as described in our complete listing of topics, sessions, times and locations (PDF, 756KB).

The conference begins on Sunday, March 17, and the exhibits will be open from 9:00 until 5:00 on Monday, March 18, through Wednesday, March 20, and from 9:00 until 3:00 on Thursday, March 21. Below are a few highlights of the instruments, solutions and services that we're featuring in our exhibits. We hope to see you in New Orleans.

Bioscience: More progress every day

From our roots as a leader in providing solutions for combinatorial chemistry, we are now reaching out to address bioscience applications such as genomics and proteomics.

Agilent 2100 bioanalyzer

Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer: Utilizing lab-on-a-chip technology developed by Caliper Technologies, the 2100 bioanalyzer is the industry's only platform capable of analyzing DNA, RNA, proteins and cells. Based on advanced microfluidics capabilities, it can automatically analyze smaller amounts of your sample. Sample handling, separation, detection and data analysis are integrated within a single compact system. Up to 12 samples can be analyzed in approximately 30 minutes, and tedious steps such as gel staining and visualization are eliminated. Our total solution for gene expression, protein, DNA and cell analysis can help you improve overall lab and research productivity.

DNA Microarray Scanner: The Agilent microarray scanner offers a flexible approach to high-quality, high-throughput, accessible gene expression. It provides an automated, walkaway scanner that images up to 48 industry-standard 1-inch x 3-inch microarray glass slides (from Agilent as well as many other commercially available and in-house spotted microarrays). The use of two-color simultaneous scanning enables time-saving comparative results within one microarray experiment. This scanning technology allows researchers to more confidently monitor up- and down-regulation of expressed genes in order to better understand the cause of disease and, in turn, help find new cures.

Catalog cDNA Microarray Kits: Break away from spotting microarrays yourself and concentrate on your real passion -- your research. Our microarray printing process allows us to manufacture high-quality catalog cDNA microarrays -- consistently and with confidence -- for your specific needs.

Chemical analysis: Instruments and much more

Our solutions help you accelerate the pace of progress in a host of applications: agricultural, environmental, food and flavors, forensics, hydrocarbon processing, specialty chemicals and more. In addition to instruments, we also offer comprehensive consulting and implementation services that span problem definition, application development, information management, ongoing operations and more.

Warfare Agent Detection Van: We'll be showing a video that highlights a completely mobile solution from Agilent (and our partners) that can monitor and detect chemical warfare agents, biological warfare agents and toxic industrial compounds.

Multi-vendor Compliance: Agilent is offering a full complement of operational and performance qualification (OQ/PQ) services, independent of instrument brand. This compliance solution is global, multi-vendor and multi-product -- and it's available only from Agilent.

Agilent 3000 Micro GC

Quad Series Micro GC with Backflush: The Agilent Quad Series is designed for complex gas samples that require multiple columns at different settings, multiple sample inlets, or more than one carrier gas. This four-channel micro GC can be configured as a laboratory or portable unit.

Agilent 6850 GC with Cerity QA/QC Software: The Agilent Cerity Networked Data System for Chemical QA/QC makes life easier for chemists and managers of analytical laboratories specializing in petroleum, chemical and related applications. This intuitive, sample-centered software speeds throughput and minimizes rework.

Real-time Gas Analyzer: Especially useful for transient analysis, this analyzer provides real-time (two- to five-second) measurements of multiple compounds with outstanding sensitivity, speed, and selectivity.

Agilent 6850 with Dual FPDs: Adding a dual flame photometric detector to the industry's best-selling GC system is just one example of the custom solutions Agilent can create for specialized chemical analysis applications.

Pharmaceutical: Accelerating isolation and purification

Speeding up the development process can help you identify the most promising candidates very early on, focus your effort on drugs with the highest potential for success, and move those products efficiently through the process.

Agilent 1100 Series

Agilent 1100 Purification Platform: We took our industry-leading high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) system, recognized worldwide for its reliability, and expanded it to include purification capabilities for low mg up to gram quantities. The result is the Agilent 1100 Series purification system, which provides high throughput, high capacity and high productivity for compound isolation and purification in the pharmaceutical industry. The system is available in two versions -- analytical scale, preparative scale -- that are optimized according to the amount of sample to be isolated, required purity, desired throughput, and analytical costs.

Agilent 1100 Series Capillary LC Ion Trap MS System: The 1100 Series capillary LC incorporates an electronic flow control (EFC) that measures and controls capillary flow rates. Combining high-precision capillary LC separation with powerful and sensitive MS detection offers complete, integrated and reliable solutions for handling small sample volumes and extremely low analyte concentrations. New ion trap software offers automated, data-dependent capabilities that are ideal for proteomics and other applications.

Networked Data Systems: For instrument control, data acquisition, automation and reporting, we offer several powerful software solutions, including ChemStation, ChemStation Method Validation Pack, and Cerity NDS for Pharmaceutical QA/QC. All systems incorporate 21 CFR 11 compliance features.
