A.05.01 Service Serial Numbers: US00000000-US99999999 A new patch is available to fix several defects in the Agilent G2725AA Easy- Access rev. A.05.01 software. To Be Performed By: Agilent-Qualified Personnel or Customer (for Both) Parts Required: Available from the \\wscsfs01.scs.agilent.com\Lsca server from the \apgsup\Software\CURRENT\G2725AA LCMS Easy Access A.05.01\Patches\G2725-28 folder. The patch is also available for customers to download from the Agilent Life Sciences and Chemical Analysis external web site (http://www.chem.agilent.com) at Home > Technical Support > Downloads and Utilities > ChemStation for LC, LC - MS, GC, CE, CE-MS and A/D (customers will need to have created a free account on the web site and provide their ChemStation registration number to access the patch). Situation: A new defect has been discovered in G2725AA Easy-Access rev. A.05.01. When the user is logging samples into a Wellplate Sampler (WPS) with two plates, they may encounter a situation where Easy-Access will tell them to place samples in a location on Plate 1 that is already occupied. This will typically happen when the user fills up Plate 1 with vials except for a few holes (e.g. three). They will then log a job that requires more holes than available on Plate 1 (e.g. five). Easy-Access will log the vials to holes on Plate 2 in order to not split the job across plates. This is normal behavior. Once the user has filled the holes remaining on Plate 1 with jobs less than three vials, Easy-Access will "wrap around" on Plate 1 back to a location that is already occupied. What it should actually do once Plate 1 is filled is to start using the remaining holes on Plate 2. Solution/Action: Patch 2 to Fix Defects in Easy-Access rev. A.05.01 has a fix for this defect. In addition, it is cumulative so it contains all the fixes already available in Patch 1 to Fix Defects in Easy-Access rev. A.05.01 described in Service Note G2725-27. These defects are: 1. If while Easy-Access was being used on an Autosampler (ALS) with an External Tray and a vial that was being discarded (post-acquisition) was missing (e.g. the owner retrieved it), Easy-Access would report a Missing Vial error as if a pre-acquisition vial were missing. 2. If during the initial setup for an acquisition an instrument error occurred that was quickly cleared (e.g. change in LC pump pressure), Easy- Access would pause the run and incorrectly report a missing vial. 3. During acquisition with a CTC autosampler using a VT54 (54 2 ml vial plate), the sample position would seldom advance beyond the first vial plate. 4. During acquisition with a CTC autosampler, the value for injection volume set in the Easy-Access user interface would not be used. Instead, it would use the ChemStation method injection volume. 5. During acquisition with a CTC autosampler, overlapped injections would not work. 6. When running Easy-Access samples as events, reports would never be printed. The patch should be installed only on Easy-Access rev. A.05.01 for LC and LC/MS ChemStation. Patch 2 updates the build number to Build 290, which is an update from the Build 280 of the shipping Easy-Access rev. A.05.01. The build number is displayed on the Easy Access software startup screen. If Patch 1 to Fix Defects in Easy-Access rev. A.05.01 has already been installed on the system, it is not necessary to do steps 6 and 7 below. To install the patch: The patch should only be installed on Agilent Easy-Access rev. A.05.01 ChemStation systems. 1. Make sure that there are no samples in the Agilent Easy-Access queue. 2. Close the Easy-Access and ChemStation software. 3. Copy the patch file G2725-28.zip to the hard drive of the PC. 4. Extract the three executables from the ZIP file: EZAccess_290.exe ezxmmainA05_01_patch1.exe hplctc00.exe 5. Double-click on EZAccess290.exe. It will bring up a WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box. a. Select the Unzip button to unzip the file to the C:\Program Files\Agilent\Easy-Access\ChemStation folder. 6. Double-click on ezxmmainA05_01_patch1.exe. It will bring up a WinZip Self- Extractor dialog box. a. Select the Unzip button to unzip the file to the C:\Chem32\Core folder. (Only do step 7 if using a CTC Autosampler with Easy-Access) 7. Double-click on hplctc00.exe. It will bring up a WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box. a. Select the Unzip button to unzip the file to the C:\Chem32\Drivers folder. 8. Restart the ChemStation and Easy-Access software. 9. Go to Administration and Clear the Trays a. Select the Submit New Sample button. b. Choose the User Name sysadmin—an Admin button will appear. c. Select the Admin button. d. Enter the Easy-Access password. e. Select the Clear Trays button. f. Exit Administration. 10. Begin using Easy-Access.
