10:00-11:00AM | Trends in Informatics: Approaches to Reduce Cycle Time, Enhance Operational Efficiency, and Improve Data Quality
Michael H. Elliott, CEO, Atrium Research & Consulting LLC

Abstract: During the last thirty years, significant advances have been made in both analytical technology and scientific data systems. The result? In a typical laboratory environment, more data is being generated than ever before, growing at an exponential rate. Combined with inadequate data management practices and paper-based processes, organizations are consuming 50% or more of their scientific resources for data collection, annotation, analysis, organization, and storage.

Companies are learning that focused attention to domain-level workflows is insufficient. Individual laboratory cycle times may improve, but information silos do little to optimize overall throughput. Through a holistic approach to data and information processes supported by modern informatics architectures, best practices organizations are realizing benefits in inter-department cycle time reduction while enhancing efficiencies of scientific resources and improvements in data quality.

This presentation will highlight trends in informatics architectures and best practices in informatics analysis and deployments. Discussions of real life benefits will be discussed.

Dr. Anand Deshpande, Ph.D., Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Persistent Systems

Abstract:Software outsourcing has evolved over the last two decades. In this session I propose to discuss how software outsourcing has moved beyond cost-arbitrage to partnerships to build products with faster time-to-market and lower risks of engineering failure. I propose to use the Web 3.0 framework to describe best practices of managing distributed software product teams.

Representing NASSCOM, I will provide details on the availability Indian software talent and will discuss some of NASSCOM’s initiatives to maintain India’s leadership in software outsourcing.

Rapid growth rates in the Indian economy has created several exciting opportunities for software products to be built for the Indian market. I propose to discuss the market size and the dynamics of the Indian market and encourage product Companies to consider India as a market for launching innovative software products.
